IMO it’s harder to control simply because gays are often shamed, bullied or indoctrinated into feeling that it is in their best interests to suppress their homosexual desires (whereas heterosexuality has the imprimatur of societal approval and is therefore allowed unconstrained expression).

Certainly no forgiveness needed — I wish the conversations here were always as high as the bar you set with your comments. I think it’s very interesting to contemplate what people find hot or what people *think* about what people find hot, especially when they are in a position to explain it as well as you have.

As for the masculinity stuff, I think we see the issue in very similar terms. I’ve been with married guys and guys who considered themselves straight before, and when it turned me on, it was mostly about the fantasy that the guy might be fucking his wife and fantasizing about me or another guy. (In Brokeback, it’s implied that Ennis only wanted to fuck his wife from behind and/or up the ass — that is hot because it’s, well, a little twisted, but also because it suggests that gay desire is harder to control.) So ultimately, my straight fantasies are, in a circuitous way, still more about turning them gay than about being with a guy who I really think is straight and therefore can only fuck me with his hands behind his head, lest he feel my hairy leg and lose his wood.
