Fazz, you can say that the greater anti-gay sentiment among black people is a “recorded fact.” But I’d like to know where it is recorded. It doesn’t match my experience or interpretation of poll data.

But even if you had indisputable proof (and not anecdotal evidence) to support that claim, you still haven’t shown that black antigay sentiment is the *cause* for fewer black men appearing on majority-white sites…. Fewer appearing does not tell us how many applied. The fact that there *are* a number of sites with a majority of Af-Am and Latino models (that have lower production values) tends to suggest that the nonwhites who do make it into porn are at sites that have less cash (and probably pay less). But the fact of the *existence* of those sites says that black/Latino men DO enter gay porn, they just don’t end up at Abercrombie-ish sites or companies. With Cocodorm and other such sites out there, that can’t be an accident. Just as those sites feature only what they call “blatino” models (and almost never whites), it has to be company policy not to feature two nonwhite models in a scene on the other sites. That kind of thing doesn’t happen accidentally, and it isn’t purely driven by black people’s shame. Like Abercrombie, the majority-white sites have to have a mindset in place to keep themselves that way.

Finally, unless someone can show that the white men who come out as gay or end up on gay porn sites come from families, religions, or communities that are ok with gay sex (for public consumption, no less), then even negative attitudes aren’t the determinant of who auditions for sites.

By the way, in my thirty-three years of being black in America, I have found more that black people are wary of public embarrassment than of gayness, per se. In short, I was never told not to be gay. I was often told not to be sexual in public because white people would not take me seriously intellectually or think I was a rapist. It’s called “the politics of respectability” — and there’s a gay version of it, too.

Marcus that is definitely not what I’m saying. I’m saying that racism has been institutionalized in the US because of the need to always refer to Americans as African Americans when they are black. This will always keep separatism alive.

Chase Ford (PJ) did CD247, before he came to the Pad. He was immensely popular amongst the members, and will most likely return to the Pad at a future date. He’s stated that he cant come for a visit right now, since he’s very busy with his sports Career (baseball). However, i should note that, on his last show at the Pad, both he and the members were crying, and there were LIVE call-ins where members expressed their feelings of loss, and their appreciation for him.
So I suspect that he wants to come back.

As for Markus’ comments, I’d like to start off with the simple fact that the black community is less gay friendly than the white community. This is not a Fox News-esque distortion of the truth, it’s a recorded fact. I’m not thereby stating that the white community is gay friendly in any sense of the term, but they are more gay friendly, as a whole, than the Black community. This might be because of social, cultural or religious factors. But that ofc is a different discussion for another forum.

A black man is therefore less likely to search for a job where he would be exposed to naked men, and what might widely be considered as semi gay interaction, simply because of either his feelings about gays or the gay community or his own fears about the reactions and opinions he would get from his peers, back home.

As for black performers being paid less than white. That’s simply ridiculous, and unfair. I know for a fact that the White / Black / Hispanic / Asian etc. performers are all paid the same for their work, at least at Fratmen.tv and Fratpad.com.
The only difference in salary comes from the amount of Privates that the fratman do. And from what I have observed, there is no difference there between the black & white performers. It’s got more to do with, how they perform on cam. People are not going to pay for a Private if the performer is dull, stifled or unsociable.

I can not say with certainty why they created a separate site for black performers. I will however inquire on your behalf (Markus Carls) about that fact. Most likely on Wednesday when the Admins answer member questions LIVE.

I just want to point out that from what I have seen and heard, there is not racism from the Administration of the fratpad or fratmen.tv.

@ Fazz — I think there is more than one way to carve up this question of whether or not Fratpad (or any of the similar Abercrombie-ish sites) has race issues. For example, we know that Abercrombie lost a lawsuit for forcing nonwhites to work in the stock room while encouraging whites to work the floor. You can’t use “the black community frowns upon” retail jobs to explain that (grin). Similarly, I would suspect that black models receive less money. I don’t have facts for that, but considering that the demand for them among white viewers subscribers seems low (based on this blog and other boards), they wouldn’t be able to command as high a price. I have a colleague who did a dissertation on the treatment of black women in str8 porn that could probably be generalized to gay porn as well.

Second, while it is true that there are negative attitudes among black people regarding gayness in general and porn careers, I would be very surprised if the “majority” of white people did not “frown upon” gayness and pornography.

Third, if they have enough men for an all-black site and that number is significantly higher than the number they had on fratmen/pad, then that would also say that they purposely keep the number of black men on the frat sites low.

Wasn’t one of the guys also Chase Ford on CD I’m pretty sure that I saw him in the PAD in the past although he never did any work for FratMen TV.

Honestly I don’t know why they made a separate site for black guys… I mean just today we got a new black guy at the “Pad” , and his name is “Paris” … So why make a site just for black guys?

I don’t know what John had as motivation for creating a separate site for black fratmen. And yes, personally I feel like it’s segregation, in some way. Ofc, that fact needs to be proven; if we see less and less black fratmen at Fratpad or Fm.tv we can make a conclusion that John (owner) is racist. But if we see as many black men as usual then well, we can only assume that John is greedy, and that’s alright. lol Right? haha

Personally I’ve never noticed a racist streak from the staff at fratpad or FM.tv …. They have always treated all races the same way.
Plus black men are less likely to seek a porn career in the gay porn industry simply because it is frowned upon in the majority of the black community.
That’s a fact.

The fratmen that were black and left the fratpad left it because of studies or because they had issues IRL. But they were all very popular amongst members and in the Administration.

As for when the new site will be up, the admins have told the members that they are going to try and get it out during the summer, or early fall.
But sadly, the admins are quite lazy with their assignments; often postponing shit, simply because they dont want to hire more staff.. *sigh*
More cash for the CEO, I suppose. UGH!

Amen, KH8. I think it’s more like “relegating” black guys to one site. I guess Fratmen — like SC, CF, and others — are sure their primary consumer can only tolerate occasional nonwhites. More than a couple sprinkles and you’re suddenly an “ethnic” site. So they’ll put all the black guys on a separate site. It’s unfortunate. Most of us who aren’t white are used to being in a racially mixed space, but if more than two of us show up… Whoa! It’ll never change as long as sites, clubs, and magazines are counting nonwhite heads at the door. To me, this is different from a black person starting a site with black models who can’t get work elsewhere. Because you’re right, they could/should be all on one site. Here’s hoping the production values are high on this new black site — theyr’e usually so bad :(

So, they’re segregating the schools…I mean frat. That should boring things up quite a bit. Diversity is the spice of life. I really don’t see an upside to that.
