@dio Yeah, you’re probably right re SC’s change of focus, unfortunately.

Re the timing of the ballooning in comments on Sean Cody updates, I would note that on Christmas 2011 they had the one-two punch of going BB *and* doing it with their superstar, Brandon. Also, BB probably ramped up interest for Sean Cody more than, say, CF, because of the surprised factor. Corbin Fisher had been toying with “magic disappearing/reappearing” condoms, and already had BB on ACS and C F S, but on Sean Cody the BB (and heavier-duty than CF’s BB) just blew in out of nowhere, again with Brandon supplying the first bare dick.

Another really important factor is that Sean Cody is a cheaper site compared to, say, Corbin Fisher.

@Jonny Marzetti, something that makes me suss of ‘plant’ commenters is that up until about a couple of years ago Sean Cody was dominating the scene, but then subs/profits began to slide, so Sean Cody began cracking down on piracy w/ an iron fist ala Corbin Fisher. That’s about when they started going BB, too, and when SC’s WB postings’ comments began to blow UP. If you go back to 2009-2010 updates Sean Cody posts on WB were nowhere near as bloated w/ comments as in 2011-onward.

i dunno, but I think for a while ngow SC’s stopped worrying about the artistic (see: hot fucking guys!) side/’quality’ of their product, and has been heavily focused on the business side of things… shit is what it is.

IMO there are 3-ways where one guy gets in the way, and others where they MELD. IMO This is a MAJOR “melder,” one of the things that makes it so hot, especially when they take such great advantage of certain dirty stuff that you just can’t do with only too people — while managing to make it major romantic all at the same time.

Aries’ ink is indeed an unfortunate distraction, but the scene is still SOOOO hot.

GREAT ideas porndog, and eloquently staed. (Can I say “eloquently” in an often-bitchy fuck-movie blog?) I would also suggest that the Sean Cody updates balloon up because they have way more than their fair share of lengthy debates (or reminiscences or wishlists or…) that take on a life of their own, and may not even be related to the particular update — or to Sean Cody at all. Kind of like what we’re doing right here in a CM update. That *really* ratchets up the number of posts.

Despite how much I love this particular CM update, and have been generally pissed with Sean Cody since the beginning of 2013, I have to also agree with clusterfuck that through the years Sean Cody has traditionally had better models and production values.

dio, I doubt Sean Cody pays for posts. I’ve seen several updates where easily 2/3 or more of the voluminous number posts are negative (or off-topic). Frankly, I kind of doubt comments here have a significant effect on how much business these sites get — especially negative comments. I would guess that most people who end up here just look at the pics. Most people probably aren’t that engaged in reading the commentary, let alone posting. That said, I *do* get the impression that studios sometimes make changes based on what they read here. And that the studios and/or their performers sometimes post positive reviews — but usually on the kinda-late side, and in limited numbers.

MD, the imbalance in the number of posts does remain a mystery but kudos to CM for getting 50+ posts with this update. This many posts for anyone other than Sean Cody is a rarity…and well deserved with this awesome update.

Clusterfuck…actually if Vander showed up on SC, I think he’d be a “remarkable” addition instead of unremarkable. My God, he’d actually bring something different to the Sean Cody stable and liven things up a bit.

I’m not surprised Sean Cody vids get more comments than CM. Why? Consistently hotter models, better production values and better action.

I wouldn’t be able to recognize the vast majority of CM models if I ran across them on the street since they’re mostly unremarkable and have a similar scruffy trashy tatted look. The only noteworthy CM models I’ve paid attention to are Jet, Haigan and Parker. If Vander – the flagship model of CM – showed up on SC, he’d be an unremarkable addition: maybe too old, unkempt, ok body and cock. I imagine he’d get the same criticism as SC’s last solo.

@moondoggy, I’ve often thought about SC’s lopsided comment numbers too. I think it just boils down to a tradition that posters have begun on Sean Cody updates. It’s our little soap opera. Since many of us considered Sean Cody to be the top amateur online studio, maybe we all waited in anticipation for a great update. I think it’s an indication of SC’s popularity over the others. And to varying degrees, we all are ‘invested’ in seeing it succeed and are proportionately disappointed when it falls short of expectations. It is prob 1 of the few studios with such a following.

For the most part, the number of comments it generates is still perplexing to me. But I think the biggest reason is SC’s popularity is balanced by an equal amount of mystery. As a studio, it remains the most secretive with practically no PR. It has no social media presence, and we know nothing about it’s models or operation beyond what they want us to know, which isn’t much.
