Absolutely the initial penetration is key to a hot scene. I would have thought that all directors would have considered that to be necessary. (silly me) That was what was missing from Shaw topping Blake. There was no initial penetration sequence. Shaw was just in there. Possibly to overcome wood problem, but it still didn’t flow right. And the only other penetration for the second fuck in that scene was over in a blink of an eye and the camera was in the wrong place.

Exactly. Establish penetration. It doesn’t need to be obsessively filmed like a nature documentary for the next 22 minutes. The biggest challenge facing pornmakers is understanding how to build something for everyone into each shoot. I would say “don’t get me started,” but I’m already carried away. My philosophy is that the initial penetration shot is absolutely the most important moment in the scene besides the cumshot. If you can get a really clear view of an unwrapped dick very clearly and gradually thrusting in, it sets up the whole scene. It’s actually better if it takes a couple of tries before the cock goes all the way in, but what’s crucial is that you film this in a continuous take from initial approach to the momentum building. That way, if the top collapses onto the bottom and starts grinding in so deep that you can’t see, your experience of the scene is still framed by that initial penetration.

One time I wrote to Breed Me Raw (or Bareback Me Please — I can’t remember which now because I deleted all their stuff), and complained that they were editing out the initial penetration, and the guy who wrote back to me didn’t even understand what I was saying. He gave me some bullshit about the previews not showing everything that’s in the longer scenes. He was completely unaware that they had a persistent pattern of cutting past the insertion. It was nice of him to write to me, but I lost all respect for them after that.

What makes you suspect that Vadim did any scenes off-camera with anyone? Seems highly unlikely to me. He’s done a pretty good job of getting over his reluctant G4P vibe, but pretty sure he’s still solidly str8.

It makes no sense to me how hot Tom is. If I just saw him in a club, I don’t feel like I’d look at him twice. But in bed he is a friggin ninja.
