From the time Tom’s solo appeared on the site, I always viewed him as the cute, cuddly teddy bear version of Jeff. A lot of his early scenes were slammed because people said he looked disengaged. I can’t stop congratulating Tom in my head for being better than I thought he was. I’m tempted to try to find my earliest comment about him. I don’t think it was kind. Tom was like Clay — a dirty bird in the best way, spinning average-looks straw into gold. Tom compounded it by hitting the gym, whereas Clay’s attitude seemed to be, “If you don’t want to fuck me, get the fuck out of the way because you’re holding up the line.”
