In reply to L. T.. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find anything else online. I asked sanfv (he seems knowledgeable about the industry)- he knew that Alex passed away last year, but nothing else. I can only assume Alex was clinically depressed for a long time (not a great theory, just throwing it out there). As you may know, emotional, mental health issues go unchecked in the industry & drugs tend to be readily available. Sorry could't be of more help
