And you’re right – it’s shameful the way some good intentions fall victim to bureaucracy (the VA is a great example) or to incompetence or apathy (Benghazi is the most stunning example), and loyal, devoted people are sacrificed in the process, in the latter case above, horrifically. But there are no silver bullets, and in a democracy WE ALL have to do what we can. As I said, it’s an honor to be able to do anything that helps a fellow military veteran.

I thank you for what you do. It’s awful to see you guys serve and protect us overseas only to feel like our government doesn’t help you out when you need it the most. I had to get older to realize the majority of the homeless people in my area of Louisiana are former vets. There was one who frequented Target all the time but I haven’t seen him for a long time.

LOL I’m not certain I see a similarity, though I do like both.

So many came back but with serious long-term mental issues. I’m lucky, I guess, that I was too shallow for such effects. My husband and I do a lot of work with veterans with both physical and mental challenges. The physical are so very rough to overcome; the mental are heartbreaking because few can overcome them.

Yeah. I have a cousin who served in the Persian Gulf War along with his friend. He came back fine; his friend didn’t. His mind wasn’t the same.
