I agree that the models are nothing more than a means to an end, the end being sales of scenes or subscriptions, or whatever money-generating measure they use. As far as the studios are concerned, they need to know nothing more than the legal requirement that the model is over 18, and keep appropriate records to avoid legal issues that may arise. Any more vetting would be an unnecessary (for them) cost. And they will keep using the same models as long as the scenes in which those models appear are selling (or downloaded or whatever measure they use to gauge popularity, and therefore, income potential).

I mean these studios consider guys as capital. Potential avenues of revenue. Not even as people. So they don’t if they have shitty views and even hate their customers. I is a long shot to say that all corporations are homophobic because they have some homophobic executives. Where does that put Apple, whose CEO, Tim Cook, is openly gay? There are many corporations who have corporate policies to support their gay and lesbian staff, eg. most, if not all professional services firms. Many will submit themselves to an annual audit by GLBTI organizations. There will no doubt be some homophobic staff to executive level, but it is company policy to be supportive of gay rights. It is not those corporations to which my comment was directed.

I am not sure why anyone would lump the USA with regimes in countries including Iran, Saudi Arabia, Uganda, Nigeria, Egypt, Russia, and India, for example, in relation to homophobia. Those are just a few countries whose legal regimes are homophobic in the extreme. Many American states have legislation proscribing discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and same-sex marriage is legal in the USA. All of the countries I have listed actually have homophobic laws. You will not be stoned and killed in the USA just for being gay, but you will be, if caught, in at least Iran and Saudi Arabia. You can be jailed for “promoting” homosexuality in Russia, and if you are attacked there, you will not be supported by the state. Visitors to the USA are no longer barred entry if they have HIV. It is a long stretch to lump the USA with the examples, and others, when it comes to homophobia.

It is also a long stretch to lump big-mouthed executives into the same class as oppressive regimes. I did not do that. Anyone who makes that conclusion miscontrues my comment. When writing in English, that is why we use paragraphs, to separate different topics.

This is basic market segmentation where income streams are classified by the demographics and strategies utilized to capture it. It is about how businesses operate so individual perspective is rather meaningless.

It doesn’t matter how you think of your money. To GayHoopla and other companies producing gay porn, your money is “gay dollars”. (In a broad sense; it is actually further segmented.) The material is being created and marketed to you b/c you are gay, and you being gay or interested in gay porn is what makes you a targeted consumer.

The problem with that is that many corporations are staffed at the executive levels by homophobes. If you refuse to spend your money at one, you must stop spending them at all of them. As to supporting oppressive regimes, you can no longer spend any money in the United States anymore. The current regime is very homophobic. If you won’t spend money in other countries, you can’t spend it here.

Given that, it’s still quite a leap from big mouth executives at a porn studio to oppressive regimes. They are hardly in the same class. I seriously doubt that a porn studio is going to murder it’s members in the name of homophobia.
