So it’s sunny today, my kid wanted to walk the dogs so we passed by Dolores park this morning.

Tell me why a white gay couple kept calling their white child “So dark, you’re a dark girl, yes you are! Look at how dark you are! So dark and so cute!”

I went up to them and told them to stop taking our land.

We go down the park, get fro-yo and I see hella black folks- warms my heart because they’ve all pretty much left SF. They lay down blankets and smother on spf 1000 and my smile fades away.

Are you talking about Levi? Becuase the origin story he tells(told?) was that he was adopted by a single Jewish (American White) mother when he was a baby. Speaking Spanish and getting Paraguay tattooed on your back don’t set down any roots.

Speaking your parent’s language also isn’t synonymous with being removed. I have countless students who are 1st generation Latinx who can’t speak Spanish because of the lack of support they received in retaining the language at school. It takes two to tango and if a student isnt supported in the learning environment, it becomes harder for them to retain their home language because it isn’t reinforced outside the walls of the home. They rock the ballet folklorico and other traditions and for all intents and purposes, they are very connected to their culture.

I make sure my son gets as much as exposure to Spanish and Portuguese at his school because we speak three languages at home and in order for his brain to properly process and navigate the language, support has to bridged at school, in the home, and on the street.

You’re free to think what you want. And I’m free not to care.

Ricky speaks Spanish, so he’s not a White girl and not that removed from his roots. I know tons of Latinos who don’t even know how to speak Spanish, which is sad imo….especially when their parents speak it

I’ve heard and seen “team tan” used by many-a-white person here in the bay area when it gets sunny out. I snatched someone’s wig the other night when they said they got “Tan like Pocahontas” now that the sun is out in SF.

They were like a carbon copy of RyRo, SMDH.

It’s even more problematic if they came up with it. Because tanning does not fit into this melanin equation. At. All.

I was hoping that was the case. I dream of a world where are these criminals are off the streets and off porn sets.
