OMG! A similar situation like this happened to my mama when her father passed in 03. The people she was really close to in Dallas ( extended family) went through his house 3 days after he was murdered and cleaned out his house. My mom ( being a nurse and all ) drove up their and had to literally clean up his brain matter. And drove back down to Houston to get us for the wake and funeral. We stopped fucking with them after that, a Aunt my mom was really close to was the main cooperate. Family can sometimes be your biggest enemy.

Yeah, she had me laughing. She was happy to see us but upset because some of his children (from his previous marriage) came over and were taking stuff without going over the will. Trifling. Some of my mom’s siblings did the same thing when my grandmother passed in ’06. Anything Madea was going to give to Mama, they locked her out to keep her from getting it and have the nerve to feel that my sisters and I are going to still love them. People need to call and ask their love ones at least every other day “hows your day going” etc etc. My family drives me crazy, but i still call SOME of them and check up on them. He was really cool and always asked me how was school and work. He was my grandfather’s last living brother. Strangely enough, he has two well-known grandkids. One of them was on the show “Veronica Mars”. Learn something new every day. Anyway, I met a ton of fam from Pennsylvania and they’re truly cool people. I need to save up some money and go up there.

As for Tee-Tee (his wife), she’s taking it better. She said she had months to prepare and all she needs to do now is just keep on living.

The most interesting story my mom told us about him was why he was living in Erie, PA instead of in Louisiana with the rest of his family. He got into a fight with a white boy and my grandparents sent him upstate to make sure that he could never be found and killed.

I love law, I find it intriguing, and criminal law is a high demand field. The biggest problem facing minorities is an outrageous shortage of quality in already over taxed legal aid. They wind up with some asshat that convinces them to take deals no paid attorney would ever acquiesce too. Iv’e been in court with HB on a few occasions watching this crap go down, they fall like cards. The attorneys are too busy just trying to pump these cases through a system that is not equipped to handle the load, and they pay a dear price for not being able to afford real representation. It is nauseating. You are right about one thing – the minorities are getting shafted, the law has become something that only works for those who can afford it. I admire your heart. HB does Pro Bono as often as he gets a chance, but it can get messy some times.

Thanks, boo. Been gone off of this site because we had two losses in the family. Lost a great-uncle on the eleventh and a great-aunt days before him. We knew my uncle was going to pass because he has been down for months and his heart was at 10% but the aunt died suddenly. The funeral was nice and joyous. My family doesn’t really do mournful funerals and I loved the positive words they had to say about him.

His stepson told us how he was the only dad that he ever knew in life (I had no idea he and my great-aunt had only been married 22 years, 23 on May 27th). He was a carpenter and used to be employed by another man until he realized the man was trying to cheat out customers by having broken stuff installed in their houses to keep requesting their business. Save for a few ratchet family members that were there, the experience was all-the-way positive.

Well LA is your city baby, San Diego is still very conservative – although it is still a live and let live kind of ambiance, there is no shortage of actual rednecks. Same if not worse in northern Cali. I am fortunate in that my direct superior works out of Madrid, so were pretty much confab via internet.
