Your indignation may in part be quite righteous, however, Andy Honda (aka Cody & Brandon) bottomed at other sites after he left Corbin Fisher and appeared to love every minute of it. The dude was gorgeous and had a slammin; bod…and was quite versatile if I remember correctly. He was one my Corbin Fisher early days favs.

They each declined the contracts they were offered – big raises, but apparently not enough. There was a similar situation that was averted with The Big Bang Theory where the main stars decreased their contracts for next year in order for the main supporting cast to get enough of an increase to keep them but not exceed the network budget. Don’t know if Hawaii Five-O was the same situation or they just really preferred to go or what, but it’s coincidental that they are both Korean who are leaving.

In a similar vein but different genre, it’s truly unfortunate that it was announced this week that both Daniel Dae Kim and Grace Park leave Hawaii Five-O after the 7th season just past. Having not one but two primary Asian-ethnicity actors, particularly in a show set in the very Asian-mixed location of Honolulu added rich texture to the show (and this version of the show advanced the characters well beyond the original series in the ’60s and ’70s did). I’m really sad about that.

I do follow the franchise diligently – I’m a Trekker – guilty, Your Honor! And before I get to Takei, let me clarify: not the Peace Corps for me, the United States Marine Corps – 29 years worth (retired with 30 due to time accrued).

So back to Takei. He SAID he believed that the character Sulu was supposed to be straight because of a conversation between him and Roddenberry in the summer of 1998. Takei used the conversation as logical evidence that Gene Roddenberry “intended” Sulu to be straight, but the content he related did nothing of the sort. Further the content of the conversation was supposedly specifically about more representation among the cast including gays though Takei was careful to not put himself – Takei says Rodddenberry was apologetic that he couldn’t do more because he had been pushing hard with the network as it was and would be off the air if he did more. Add to that the fact that in STTOS and the six subsequent movies the character appeared in, Sulu was entirely non-sexual, and you don’t have any convincing evidence. To be fair, there is 1 mention of a daughter and then, 27 years later that character appears in an episode of STTNG. Hardly convincing, as my husband for one of MANY proves by having a son and having been openly gay before that and at the time.

I liken Takei’s position to people who attempt to interpret the Constitution strictly as the nation’s founders created it, without taking into consideration the evolution of society. But I think it’s more about his waning claim to the character as the new movies feature the character more and leave him behind. And Takei, as a gay man and LGBT activist should be thrilled that we’re representing instead of attention-whoring and laying claim to the exclusive arbitration of the definition of a character he played for three years and then reprised in a secondary role in 6 movies.

Yeah, you really got to dig for the other Corbin Fisher Asians. One of them I remember but can’t think of his name and I think there newest one is Isaiah(?).

Agreed. Still waiting for Sean Cody to get a hot Asian dude and what happened to the hottie that Corbin Fisher had? CM needs an Asian dude too. The problem is that they find hotties, treat them as bottoms and then the guys never come back. The only Asian guys that do have lasting power in gay porn are always Eurasians, Blasians, Latasians and any other mixed Asian guys. It’s beyond unfair.
