I really don’t know what direction the show will take. But I do think it’s weird that Julia is Pope’s twin, and yet he wasn’t motivated to get to know her son. That’s a red flag.

She’ll be okay, she’s got those Friends residuals. I stopped reading EW a few years ago when I got sick of getting spoiled. Decided I’d rather let movies & shows surprise me.

Damn while that does make sense, part of me feels like he could just easily get his rocks off with the actors playing these roles. Maybe I’m naive but I don’t get that kinda vibe from him much tbh.

This paragraph was a fascinating read, full of good and plausible points. However, I feel like if the Pope thing is real, the show would’ve done more to telegraph it. As it is now, unless you take a close look at the instances you mention, Pope being J’s father doesn’t really come into focus. I always thought Pope didn’t like J because he’s always been slow to trust others and that’s even more true after his last dime behind bars. Either way, this show has really surprisingly become one of my favorites of the currently-airing ones. This and Better Call Saul, really not much else I’m excited about week to week since the end of Pose.

Interesting points. I like Emma but I def agree that her acting tends to be Aniston-esque (I.e. she plays the same character in every movie). I really enjoyed Scream Queens’ mess. I can’t complain about gay Nick Jonas (even if only temporarily). Ooh I didn’t know that about her character. It’d be interesting for sure as it really felt like a bizarre throwaway part at the time.

I had no idea about the rumors lol. I’m kinda surprised…I wonder why there hasn’t been a #MeToo news break about him yet? I thought Blaine became pivotal because of his relationship with Kurt tbh.

Good point, I do think Deran wants to make something of his life though, more so than Pope and Craig at least. He wants to know he did something and even if that’s because he wants to escape those shadows, he’s still got drive. Disturbing points about the incest but I’d honestly be shocked if that turns out to be true. Seems to undercut the positive strides Pope has made (despite everything, I know) and it’s one thing that would kinda betray his whole character.

Oooohh, that comment stung so hard Ms. Aniston was pulled out of REM sleep without explanation. I think the Gaga thing was mentioned in an EW interview. They really didn’t explain it on the show.

As for your Nick Jonas comment, that goes back to my Ryan comment about his casting couch. He loves it when he gets these actors who identify in public as straight (even though some of them are another way in private) on his shows. And the first thing he does is make their characters gay or gay adjacent. We’ve seen it with Finn, Evan, Max, Darren, going all the way back to Wentworth on Popular. I still can’t decide if he does it as a punishment or to see them live out gay fantasies. Probably both. The out gay actors don’t escape either. He literally had Bomer in his underwear his first season. Murphy doesn’t even try to hide what he’s doing. I’m not sure why he hasn’t been called out yet. Maybe because those “straight” actors are afraid of admitting what took place to snag those roles (especially if they’re really closeted) or because the gay actors don’t what to put him on blast. I don’t know. But I’m sure he was shaking when Singer finally got called out.

Deran for sure wants more than the Cody lifestyle. He’s different from his family in a lot of ways. Even his look is different (I always thought before the chop his hair was meant to tie him to Craig, but the color was to highlight their differences). He’s actually kind of more Baz-ian now with the new ‘do, in terms of wanting to get out and leave the family to their own devices. Craig did want the Mexico venture to work out, and he was the one who make things right between Deran and Linc. And he was the only one who really didn’t ice J out when he first arrived. I think he craves stability, but it also scares him, so he gets in his own way and fucks shit up. As for the incest thing, they’ve been dropping seeds about Pope having issues with sexual intimacy. He was awkward with church lady and ironically she was the one to get him to be comfortable with sex. He literally killed Lena’s mom after sex. Billy made the comment about he and Smurf would always find Pope watching them have sex. If Smurf was creating this incestual Oedipal vibe in the house, then it’s quite possible Pope was wired to think doing something with his sister was okay. And they were twins, so in his mind they already had a link. That could account for why he is the way he is now. And for why J is so fucked up. And why Smurf let J flounder all those years and even now, still is willing to cast him aside when he doesn’t play ball. Julia could’ve fucked her brother as a way of giving her mom the middle finger. She accomplished what her mom couldn’t. And in return, Smurf let her daughter spiral out. I don’t know. But the whole “Of course he was your father, baby” thing seemed like an obvious tell. She never tried to foster a relationship between those two, and was always coy about their connection. Even Baz seemed indifferent to the possibility. And Pope has never been welcoming of his twin’s child, which is odd. In my mind Smurf only said that because she needed to weaponize J and get him on her side. I’ve never seen the original movie, but apparently the incest angle was played up more. Also, there are theories that Smurf really only adopted Baz because she saw what was going on with Pope and Julia and she wanted Baz to be a distraction.
