Statistics place divorce rates at near 50%. In subsequent marriages those numbers actually get worse. I can tell you from experience it is a fact. My eldest sister is currently on husband 6. My baby sister is in the midst of divorcing husband 2, and engaged to number 3. She gets a Mulligan on number one though, he died tragically.

“WE” are the progeny of a long line of lifetime marriages. I am in my first really committed relationship at 29. My partner and I have decided not to marry as neither of us believes in it. We are semi-monogamous which is to say we do from time to time as a couple enjoy the company of others. Although technically we have an “open” relationship – neither of us has used the option as yet.

As for your question, I am sure there are examples of “monogamy” in gay circles. Is it the “norm” – probably not. My experience thus far in life has been that in many of those relationships, cheating is a massive issue. (It is only monogamy if BOTH parties participate).
