And the thing with DVD, and especially VHS, once you’ve seen HD anything, who wants to go back? Make no mistake, there’s a good amount of great stuff that simply isn’t available in anything but standard definition, both in tape/disc format and digital. So, I have both. You are right, VHS tapes simply occupy too much space beyond a dozen or so. I have about 500 DVD porn movies from back in the early 2000’s, before Internet porn took off, and the beauty with discs is that they are COMPACT when you take the discs out of the packaging and put them into organizers. All told, they only take up about the same space as a large photography book about 3 feet long. Still, DVD at 720×480 and a bit on the fuzzy side compared to HD, I don’t watch them much.

Comcast offers Gigabit service now and its only about $100, so not TOO bad, but the main benefits of Fiber over cable is eliminating the annoying and potentially cumbersome SLOW upload bandwidth AND eliminating the data caps. A single person household might not burn thru an entire terabyte of data a month but if there’s others and there’s much HD streaming video of say Netflix or Hulu or Prime OR video game downloads or if you upload a lot of large files to share with friends or if you use an online backup service, 1TB is nothing. Comcast after suspending data caps for years re-introduced them this year and other companies have them, too. They sell an add-on Unlimited data plan that eliminates the 1TB data cap but you have to pay $40-50 extra, per month!

So true about being minimalist. I’ve learned the hard way. I went on a porn buying binge for about 5 years and at the end I had boxes of VHS tapes that I had to throw away on the next move. That was a lot of money down the tubes! If I could have, I probably would’ve kept it all, but who has the room for all that. And tapes don’t last indefinitely anyway.

Don’t I wish I was on the West Coast! Always wanted to move to Tacoma or Seattle. I did live in the Bay area for a year, but that didn’t last. I do believe we’re getting Fiber soon, but right now, Spectrum has reasonable speeds. I have 400 mbs now which is the 2nd fastest they offer for my area. It fits my needs with downloading and working from home. So I’m satisfied for now.

And to think, I thought Working Out was somewhat obscure! LOL You know all about it. hehe

If you aren’t able or willing to get DirecTV or Dish Network, then you’re stuck with cable, unless you are lucky enough to have fiber. Too, sometimes the TV part of fiber isn’t competitive with cable. I ASSumed you were in Tacoma, WA when I said you were in the PAC12 conference. Ohio is Big Ten country so you might have it.

I hear ya on the moves. I’ve only moved a half a dozen times but that was plenty for me to trim down and just not OWN so much stuff. Its all too tempting to build a library of books or movies or whatever OR get into collecting something. Sucks having to pack and move it, tho. So, instead of having 150 books, I have a dozen or so that are important or have special meaning, nostalgia in the case of Working Out.

Yeah, unfortunately, our choices are limited to what area you live in. Spectrum has all of Cleveland and many of it’s suburbs so I’m out of luck getting Comcast. I can’t say that I’m happy with it, but what can you do?

That dusty old wrestling book is long gone. I must have discarded it 30 moves ago, lol! But I actually purchased Working Out when it was published and am embarrassed to think how long ago that was. Yes, I had many a daydream about the models in that book. I think I even drew a few of them. I also bought Looking Good too. That was during my GQ period when I thought I could be a model, and obsessively studied it’s pages every month. Ah, the stupidity of youth! It was all about designer labels, skincare, art, fine dining and culture. Sometimes I miss those days! As you said, men looked “natural’ with all their hair intact. It’s funny, but it seemed like all the models I drew back then later went onto become actors. I was big into portraiture. I plan to get back into it before I’m too old & decrepit to hold a stick of chalk steady. The sad thing is all those pictures are gone. I gave away so much artwork (sigh).

Anyway, thanks for the trip down memory lane. The 80s will never come back.

My dad has Spectrum and while I think that which particular cable box you have depends on if you are legacy Spectrum or another cable company Spectrum acquired, I know his cable box and its features and its overall ease of use is not nearly as nice as Comcast’s X1 platform. Specifically, the number of tuners. His box has only 2 tuners while mine has 5. That’s a major problem. Searching for stuff on X1’s program guide, On Demand, etc is easy typing with the remote or you can use the voice commands…even easier, if you aren’t self conscious speaking to inanimate objects. LOL I think my program guide only has 2 weeks of stuff and right now searches aren’t finding any NCAA wrestling but, like I said, there seems to be a break until Jan 6, at least with televised matches. Oh, there’s one match showing for Jan 4 on PAC12 channel, 3pm Pacific, Michigan at Oregon State. PAC12 is in a sports package I don’t get. Maybe since you are in the Pac12 conference area, you might get it included.

Working Out by Charles Hix with photography by Ken Haak, as I recall, was a book which included exercise tutorials but also grooming and other “man” stuff but, as I’m sure you can intuit from the photos, it was very homoerotic and appealed to any guy with any attractions or appreciations of natural, fitness model type guys and because it was 1983, the war on hair hadn’t begun and the models had hair where hair was supposed to be and there weren’t articles on how to shave, wax or nair your armpits, pubes, crotch, legs, arms or anything else. Still available on Amazon! Its a large format paperback.

Aw, that’s too bad. I have Spectrum. I’ll do a search to see if anything exists. Actually, me and those sexy singlets go way back to early adolescence when I discovered an old wrestling book…I think at my grandfather’s house. He said I could keep it and boy was that a revelation. I had many a “private session” involving that book, lol! It was so old all the photos were black & white, but that didn’t bother me a bit. Sounds like you already know that college wrestling is pretty much softcore gay porn only your dad and many other people think its a sport! LOL Anyway, there have been about a dozen or so matches televised so far this season, mostly on BTN (Big Ten Network). ESPN’s channels carried a few. The season runs November thru March, pretty close to right alongside NCAA basketball. Right now is kinda a break until Jan 6 where BTN will have about another dozen. ESPN might also carry a few more. I’ve looked everywhere for just a simple consolidated 2018-19 NCAA Division 1 wrestling schedule for broadcast TV and no luck. BTN’s site shows their broadcast schedule for wrestling but not ESPN’s. The National NCAA championships will definitely be on ESPN’s sites running March 21-23 with a 3 hour session early and another 3 hour session in the evening each day. Obviously, the nation’s very best wrestlers will compete and your DVR will need 18 hours for continued enjoyment…over and over and over. hehe Another thing you can do is search your DVR’s program guide for something like “college wrestling”. I think BTN is pretty common on Dish Network, DirecTV & Comcast, without subscribing to extra sports channels or packages…dunno about others.

ok now you have to tell me about the NCAA wrestling. I haven’t been able to find it. But yeah, I actually got my dvr down to 60% which is about as far as I can go. I tend to “watch” some programs while I work, so that’s when I try to catch up.

I do honestly think the DVR should have more space as its designed to be a household DVR and I’m the only one using it. What would happen if 3-4 people were DVR’ing? But, if it held a thousand things I’d have it filled up eventually! In addition to “all my shows I never watch” there’s all those movies I liked that I will want to watch again and all the NCAA wrestling to perv over!!! LOL

LOL! I thought I was the only one who filled up the DVR and didn’t have time to watch anything. Just like my Youtube. Not enough hours in the day. Well, at least I’ll be on vacation in 2 weeks. I can hold out till then.

I actually love Allison Janney, ever since I fell in love with West Wing so many years ago. And I’m not super obsessed with dozens of women like the stereotype. I saw years back that she had that show but I never tried it as I just assumed it was your typical sitcom. I see on Comcast it airs on the Paramount Network and some of the episodes are on On Demand. I should try it but like everyone I have a DVR 95% full of “all my shows that I never watch!”. LOL

Yeah, I honestly can’t say I’ve seen but a few of her movies. Jumpin Jack Flash and Awakenings were good. But I’m like you in the sense that I don’t go for mainstream comedy, or at least I don’t watch them. I recently discovered Mom on CBS with Allison Janney. The show is hilarious with a very talented cast. It has the type of gallows humor that is both adult and darkly funny as well as sexual.
