The thing is, with the comment buried now, speculations are going wild. It has the same effect/vibe as the Charlottesvile incident in term of deleted tweet, that’s all I can say.

I don’t think “taking down” the tweet was the best to do in this situation because not clarifying anything will only result in the “rumor” spreading like a wildfire. Like you said, some people might not get the context or the tone (I didn’t for example). When you know you’re in the right, you have nothing to hide assuming the thread was deleted because Austin asked/demanded to.

Then again, when you’re an important figure for a company under negative press, you’re screwed whether you clarify anything (because people can say the clarification is fabricated or anything) or you erase the trace of that press (because people assume you’re disgusting for trying to brush the topic aside for the sake of good publicity).

In the case of that particular little “nugget” I am still not sure it wasn’t totally fabricated. Given the way it was cropped – who knows. I stopped short of calling the OP a liar because who the hell knows, but it strikes me odd that even a webmaster would make such remarks. Not seeing the rest of the conversation though? As you say – it might have been better for Austin to leave it up if in fact the convo ever took place. I couldn’t find it in the OP’s feed anywhere either though – so make of that what you will. The bigger points just went ignored in this little mess anyway.

Yeah, that was really something. Scrapple opted to whip out his “Jump to Conclusions mat” by determining that new Sean Cody model Ilan was a horrible person because he said something narcissistic and supposedly punched a hole in a door. He subsequently got his ass handed to him by no less than FOUR people (including myself), all of whom came back for seconds and thirds and fourths and so on. It was truly a sight to behold.
