I knew he would be awful from the moment he stopped by to check out the room.

By making Johnny the narrator, the viewer is naturally going to sympathize with him and see Jaxx/Jared as the bad roommate. He’s the problem that is disrupting Johnny’s life. This is Chi Chi’s idea of showcasing Black men as they deserve to be seen. Can’t live with them, but it’s okay to fuck them. What an uplifting message of unity.
