Bair, you need to understand that your patience with the 70% of white Americans you feel are racist in some degree may be higher than that of those of us who are actually the targets of those racists. For someone to say: “he has a Confederate tattoo and that’s across the line for me” is totally and completely legitimate.

I think you need to check why you can identify so much with white people accused of racism and not so much with not white people who are the targets of it.

Hi Kj. Looks like you may have found a sort-of replacement for your favorite hunk, Shaw. Both do have magnificent bodies. The “HATERS” love to find someone to pounce on. If Zane is a radical racist I will be greatly saddened. I write “radical” because I truly believe that (sadly) at least 70% of White Americans are racists to varying degrees. Racism has been so systemic to our Society for so long, causing it to become systemic to so many of us without some of us even realizing it. We each have to consciously work our way through it within ourselves, and it takes time and effort. The “HATERS” did the same thing to Curtis because he had (supposedly) posted (and then quickly took down) a confederate flag on his facebook account. As you wrote about Zane, they sought to tar and feather Curtis in order to look good and feel “grand” about themselves and they labelled those who did not go along with them as racists as well. The MOB mentality at work. I then found some photos of Curtis happily socializing with women of color in intimate settings and posted those pictures. That seemed to have shut them up. It could be that Zane is a radical racist. It could be he is not. If he were running for Political Office that is something we would need to find out.

Okay! But I’m not defending him. I’m not RUSHING to “hate” him, as you say that you do. Hate is not somewhere I easily wanted to go before my hospital/death-scare experience. After my hospital/death-scare experience I can’t go there. My body won’t let me. Hate is so energy depleting and weighty. It feels horrible, when you become sensitive to how it feels. It festers. It’s a choking feeling in the throat. It’s a heavy pressure in the chest. It’s a chaotic feeling in the mind. I don’t know the story of Zane’s tattoo but I promise you if he runs for Political Office and it becomes clear that he is a racist I will NOT vote for him. I promise you. He could have gotten it when he was 18 and stupid and drunk, and now regrets it. People CHANGE and many young people see the confederate flag as DEFIANCE to the Federal Govt, and not racism. That is wrong, they need to be educated, but that is the truth.
