I don’t disagree. Of course, companies still have a hand on who they’re going to hire because like you said, quality control is not random. Every studio has its own standards of beauty and that’s something they should all try to adhere to when hiring their models.And that’s why I sometimes go off when I see a new guy who doesn’t look porn-worthy. But all I’m saying is that the pairings will not always be equally hot because at the end of the day, we have different tastes. I didn’t like Sawyer on this site and yet a lot of people like him. That Max/Sawyer pairing was only good for me because it was hot to see Max bottom for such huge dick. But their hotness is so far from being equal.

I mentioned that there are other factors to consider because I know for a fact not every hot guy will agree to do gay scenes even if the pay is good. I even heard stories (not particularly with CF) where a hot guy agreed to film but cancelled at the last minutes. So yeah, money is just one of the factors.

I don’t refute anything you just said. But I think you’re overemphasizing porn as a random collision of factors when certain companies make it obvious that quality control is not random. Even with a terrible reputation, Lucas Entertainment rarely has bad casting. Ditto Mormonboyz — as limited as their budget clearly is, you just won’t see a Basil or a Zuko at those sites. And my beef is not even with the fact that Bryan would hire those guys, but with the fact that for years when he found someone like Griffin, he would pair them with Basil and then with Clinton, etc., and you can’t convince me that was an accident. It’s a site owner calculating how little he can invest in his own site and still keep operating.

Less attractive than the other, yes. But that is somewhat standard for the entire porn industry, not just Corbin Fisher. It is rare for any studio to consistently pair two greek god models together.

What you said is fascinating to me because it rings completely true, but at the same time there’s an element of it that has never made sense to me. I had a friend years ago who went to bad dance clubs (that’s all there were) in the crappy state where we lived at the time, and he said, “I don’t get it. It’s not like the good records cost more than the bad ones.” Obviously if we’re talking about Giselle, yes, the beautiful models cost more. But does someone walk into Sean Cody and hear, “Sorry, you look like a 40-dollar model”?

I’m sure there’s an element of that, which is why Sean Cody and Jake Cruise had brief periods of undeniable dominance. Jake Cruise obviously calculated that he could let Leo Giamani, Brady Jensen, and whoever else name their price for a few months and then make them the face of the franchise forever without paying them another dime. But it would seem to me that in an industry without agents or residuals, there can’t be THAT precise a relationship between beauty and modeling rate except for people like Argos, who know exactly what every studio is willing to pay and is prepared to get breeded by everyone with a debit card.

Long story short, it’s just weird to me that we don’t get the best pairings available more consistently when (I would imagine) the rates are somewhat standardized based on what they’re doing in the scene..

Yeah. The nose, the dry hair and the eyebrows don’t help either.
He does have a nice body, but I prefer a pretty boy with an average body than a not very good looking guy with a good boy.

There are plenty factors to consider, and money is just one of them. Even if the pay is equal regardless of how a model looks, there’s no guarantee we’ll get consistently good-looking models all the time. Like I said recently, the best looking guys are the ones who don’t return. But now that I think about it, there are also not-so attractive guys who didn’t return. I guess what I’m trying to say is that just because you have money to offer and that you desire to get the best looking models for your site, doesn’t mean it’s going to happen all the time. They’re not going to get a Max or an Elian all the time, just like SC isn’t always going to get a Jeb. And then of course there’s the “beauty is in the eye of the beholder” factor too. So yeah, we won’t always get equally hot guys together in one scene.

I would imagine you’re mostly right there. I do think, at times, there might be different factors at play, such as: how much is the model willing to do, and things like that. I’m a face guy myself, but I know there are people who are more into bodies. Or big dicks. Obviously, size helps in this industry.

Remember 10 years ago when Corbin Fisher offered Levi Johnston 100k to be on the site? What a farce that was. That was such a boneheaded move for so many reasons. 1) he obviously was never going to accept, being connected to such a power players in the Republican party and all, 2) it was only for a few solos and totally not worth it, 3) the guy isn’t attractive at all IMO. 4) it made what all the good models on the site made at the time seem like peanuts in comparison.

Somebody should put together a list of all of CF’s boneheaded financial decisions some time. That would be a good read. I’m sort of surprised Corbin Fisher didn’t end up like ASG: going out of business not because of a lack of good models or content, but such stupidity at the top.
