Since when does saying someone was sexualized imply that person hasn’t had previous sexual experience? Actors are sexualized all the time in their roles. Attributing sexual characteristics or qualities to an actor or the character they are playing doesn’t necessarily have to do with virginity. Jennifer Lopez’s image is sexualized all the time. She’s not a virgin. Given what Aaron has said about his upbringing, I doubt Sam was some praying mantis who stole away his innocence. He spent half a year in the red light district in Amsterdam. Pretty sure he knew about sex long before Sam. My definition and use of the word still stands.

Why would agency have anything to do with what someone attributes to you? Agency has nothing to do with someone else’s mindset. It’s related to how you act in a given environment or situation. And since I’ve repeatedly said I don’t think Aaron was taken advantage of, agency doesn’t really factor into my comment. Just because I referenced an experience Calvin had and an experience Aaron had, it doesn’t mean I think those events were the same. If I thought that I would’ve stated that.

Sexualized implies a lack of agency, that ATJ was not capable of being sexual prior to his meeting her, when he was two years past being legal at the time.

1. I wrote “sexualized” for the specific reason that abuse wasn’t part of Aaron’s involvement with Sam. Calvin’s thing was very much an abuse situation.

2. Aaron has openly talked about his self-destructive issues during his teenage years as he navigated his career. He has talked about how Sam was a stabilizing influence. That, coupled with the definition of their on set relationship of an actor with a director, on top of the age difference, puts her in a parental role. That’s not even considering the themes of the movie they met on and the similarities in Aaron’s own life.

I wouldn’t equate a legal aged adult actor having a consensual relationship with their also adult director director with sexual abuse, or call the actor/director relationship parental.
