I love it too. The character development was extraordinary. The “family” members all radically changed but yet stayed the same. Love just now existed within them. “Patrick”, perhaps because of Noah, became the guy that I imagine all gay men could see themselves cuddled up next to, growing old with, who would keep them real, honest and who they would just naturally be their better selves with. I agree with the role Edith played in softening our opinion of Archie, but Patrick was so “normal” and not annoying in any way. He did not have Edith’s DESPERATE need to please. Patrick steadily held his own ground and was his own person and David had to meet him half way, without Patrick ever demanding it of him. He was David’s Lighthouse of love that guided David home even when David was oblivious of that fact and not seeing what was happening.

I am one of those gays who believes openly gay actors should, at least, be given the opportunity to portray gay characters BUT the (apparently) Straight Noah portrayed
the character, Patrick, so beautifully I bow to Dan’s choice. “Patrick” role-modeled unconditional love as we all fantasize it being but seldom experience (if we ever
experience it at all). “David” was someone incredibly flawed (self-absorbed, snarky,
selfish, annoying, snobbish, petty, etc.) and not easy to love; and yet…………

I agree that Jaida was the right choice, but I don’t know if it was as calculated and political as you think it to be but you could be absolutely right. It just never occurred to me. I’m a fan of Crystal, but he went way too over the top (I think) in both of the 2 “at home” shows. It became more Broadway costume theatrics for bizarre experimental plays, rather than “Drag Queen” costuming, to me. Gigi tried WAY too hard (to me) and the “little girl” look made no sense to me in the last lip sync. Jaida is talented, gorgeous, and hit all the right notes in the RuPaul style of drag, so selecting Jaida was Rupaul selecting himself, and if Ru was having a hard time deciding between the 3 very different drag styles I can understand him coming back to himself. Jaida was simply the best. Better than all the rest. And I was rooting for Crystal. 😊
