Actually, I was talking about Ricky’s face. His body has never really been an issue. Facially though he isn’t what many people would typically consider as handsome. But of course there are people who think he is very attractive facially, because we all bring our own experiences, likes and even biases into the equation when we determine “beauty.” So for Phantom Pain to make a definitive statement to the tune of “I think Asher is average looking, therefore Deacon must feel the same, or he’s just married to him because he like Latinos” while floating around the web with Ricky Larkin as his avatar is comical. Why is it okay for him to think Ricky is attractive without question, but Deacon isn’t allowed the same respect with Asher? It’s one thing to say “I do/don’t like this model” and another thing to make it seem like everyone has to agree with you, or else something is wrong with their thinking.

And that’s why certain people you have to block, because their comments are always in this same vein. “I’m right. You’re wrong.” I see he changed that avatar real quick though…

The comparison just threw me so I bypassed it instead of trying to work my way through it, and felt I should explain my mental short-comings to you. I understood the ultimate point you were seeking to get at. I now don’t know how to work my way through “beauty is color-blind”, but I’m sure I get the ultimate point you seek to make. I agree. It is the bargain basement for Drag Race. BUT, Jeffrey Bower Chapman is so gorgeous, to me, I sort of enjoy drooling over him. I’m not impressed with Brook Lynn as a judge. NO warmth. Snobbish. I’m scratching my head about Stacey Mckenzie. I mean no disrespect, I truly do not, but she is a TOP model in Canada? The contestant I was most rooting for is now gone, Tynomi Banks. But, he was failing to impress. I just thought he was the most interesting. I guess I’m liking Priyanka. Sweetness is important to me, and depth of character, and so far no one has touched my heart as some have, here in the States. But, I watch and make a few gifs. I watch on Logo so I will see Snatch Game on Monday.

Bringing MeToo up kind of threw me off and addressing that in relation to the word Ebony would result in too long of a reply, but I do agree with your last statement. My position is: ebony is simply not a derogatory word, so it can not be used derogatorily. It can be used CLUMSILY. Ebony came to be a word of INCLUSION for the Black Community in 1945, (before they were known as the “Black” Community). It was not until about 20 years later (or more) that the term “Black Power” came into being and the word “Black” then became the word for INCLUSION. SC seems to be using Ebony to mean darkest color. Even though Landon is darker than Asher, he is not Ebony. Viola Davis is Ebony. But ALL are of the Ebony Community. SC, I think, is guilty of feeling they need to make mention of dark skin color as a way of complimenting it, thus their ridiculous use of the word “tanned”. I understand that impulse because I think dark skin is beautiful and my impulse is to compliment it in some way, BUT I know better. SC does not yet know better. They are married to their impulse and their habit. They may just need the activist subscribers here to explain it to them by writing to them directly.

I’ll say it’s more of personality than looks. Some people noted that Deacon’s the one actually infatuated with Asher by clinging to him during the first interview of them together. Besides, we’ve seen time and time again how people with great bods on IG or celebs with good looks turn out to be sleazy cheaters or horrible people in different degree.

People’s appearances don’t become an absolute factor in how relationships happen or how long relationships last. Demisexuals exist to prove that.

EDIT: Apparently, Deacon says he’s into latinos. Appearances still play factor but the point about looks not determining everything in relationships still stands.

Ebony magazine is not derogatory, nor is the song, Ebony and Ivory. Black Parents do not derogatorily name their baby girls Ebony. SC needs to be “schooled” on why they aught not spotlight the skin color of Black performers when they can be SEEN in the photos and trailers.
