I actually did. I’m accustomed to being out of sync with the critics on superhero movies. They overreact positively (I thought WW 2017 was good but not the Oscar Best Picture nominee that they were acting like it was) and negatively (I thought 84 was fine but they trashed it).

84 had some flaws. I will restrain myself from writing the 10-page review that I have in me, but here are a few notes. Overall, I actually am as specific in my lasso tastes as I am in my spin tastes (and obviously the movie doesn’t even have a spin, which is okay — not all versions of the character involve a mortal Diana Prince). I don’t like anything in a live-action film that looks cartoony. That’s why the only Hulk I ever liked was Lou Ferrigno (especially when those green pecs got sweaty, omg), and why I don’t like WW’s current lasso. The best WW lasso was on the 1976/1942 uniform. See below. That whole uniform gives me vapors. More specific to 84, the movie ran too long. A tight story at 2 1/2 hours is no problem, but they dragged some things out more than they needed to. When Maxwell Lord is in Barbara’s office with the dreamstone for the first time, as I recall, it takes another whole scene before he actually absconds with it. Stuff like that could have been fixed in the script. I also don’t think I needed quite as many wish/chaos montages, and the scene where Diana and Steve are chasing the caravan takes too long as well (James Bond syndrome — a little action goes a longer way than they think, and more is not better). But the Cheetah/Wonder Woman battles were outstanding, I thought. Gal makes a superb Diana, and Chris … I never dreamed another Steve could replace Lyle in my heart. There were times in my childhood when I thought Lyle was literally the sexiest man alive, before I even knew what sexy meant.

Isis holds the distinction as being the first live-action female superhero show, beating out The Bionic Woman and Wonder Woman by several months. There was a full series uncut and remastered box set released years ago. Not sure if it’s still available. Supposedly there’s a movie coming out at some point starring Dakota Johnson. Maybe the character will appear in the Shazam sequel.

There was actually a comic (not sure if it was a one-off or a series) where the Carter and Wagner versions of Diana and Jaime teamed up.

To me, their golden age is one continuous period that includes the last 2 or 3 years of their condom era.
