My point was this: why not “Beau”? We don’t see anyone going by “Anguses” or “Jameses” as an individual first name. The name “Beaux” implies to me that they don’t recognize why the X is there.

When did people adopt “beaux” as a first name? I don’t have a lot of naming pet peeves, but that one just makes no sense. Are we supposed to pronounce it “bose” like the speaker company?
