In reply to jinger. Honestly don’t think that’s behind it. Colton Reece also seems to have some Asian heritage, and it has never come up. Rice is not so much an epithet as a lazy racist metaphor, and it’s also pretty dated. And I don’t think mixed-race Asians would participate in their own denigration. But nor should that superficial resonance prevent them from using a popular jock-next-door name if they like.
