Racism became so baked into our society. As one example, the formation of the Slave Patrols to hunt down escaped slaves (so the owners didn’t have to) is what transitioned into the Police. So racism was embedded in law enforcement early on. It’s no wonder some police see themselves as being there to protect the Whites and surveil the Blacks.
