In the past, I think it was more a matter of major studios trying too hard, overproducing their videos to the point where the cumshots were isolated to a separate stage of filming to ensure that they weren't lost. The cost of producing a movie was high and profit margins for gay movies have always been more challenging than in the straight industry, creating a lower margin for error. Digital media and the movement toward independently produced content has sadly moved us so far in the other direction that now the cumshot is playing its least important role ever because individual content makers try to turn every second of their lives into content, and no one has the juice to make that the explosive affair it deserves to be.
