I would agree that sometimes it’s about the studio selling an illusion. But I do think more often than not it’s the models who are holding back, and it’s not always a money issue. I don’t think it’s because “straight guys sell better”. It’s more of masculinity sells better, so they tell every model to butch it up to the ideal of masculinity.
