It would seem SC has deleted both scenes with Zane. They now owe members, like me, a video. Did they give Zane a chance to explain anything ? No one asked you to research your porn, white supremacist symbols or take a stand for anything. The way you wrote your post it would seem someone was pressuring you to pick a side. I and others made posts stating how we felt or thought about the company hiring performers who have openly racist symbols on their bodies and how they try covering up that fact, rather poorly, when they could have just as easily not hired him at all. Mind you they did this post production, before they even uploaded the video and people called them out for it. Why? What sense did it make to film more then one scene with this model and then go to the trouble of blurring it out in the video and photoshopping it out of promotional pics?
They made these stupid decisions and a lot of people are offended by what they allow in the porn they make and how they treat the consumer like they’re idiots, by photoshopping the pics and blurring out tattoo in the preview they are pulling a bait n switch.. This is a porn blog so appropriately people are discussing the obvious support of a specific porn company hiring a guy with a tattoo they KNOW is racist. They wouldn’t have tried to blur it out, and then photoshop it from stills if they didn’t know it was an issue.

However, I am not sure the issue is so much turning a blind eye to bigotry as it is selectively and opportunistically taking action against Zane or Sean Cody because it is easy.
I totally hear you. I don’t think we are obligated to research every dollar that we spend, but being basically well informed and responsible would be ideal. Related to what you’re saying, I think people hold entertainers to a higher standard because it’s more fun to read a porn news blog than to read political news and stay engaged. They’ll vote for their favorite adult film nominee but not vote in a midterm election. But that’s not true for everyone, and some people here probably do try to bring a certain vigilance to all of their transactions as best they can.

No it shouldn’t. What I get is that he would not have marched with the Nazis in Charlottesville because he is not a Nazi and does not agree with their politics. For some Texans the confederate flag is a symbol of Political DEFIANCE. I have no idea what it means to Zane. I just know that SC did not and is not handling this well, at all. The TACKY blurring of the tattoo shows they believe they have something to HIDE. I want to give Zane the benefit of a doubt but SC’s shifty behavior is not helping. What were/are they thinking. Just because *you* never saw your shipmates “show any racism,” doesn’t mean they didn’t. You aren’t everywhere at all times, right? Besides, you think racism is just “malice.” So you might well have missed some things you did see–never mind the whole aspect of life you didn’t.
Listen, my father served in the Air Force in Alabama in the early 1960s, I know from him exactly what (white) Southern Pride meant in very specific terms. It meant that my father had to sit on the floor of the cab when riding with white airmen because even though the military was desegregated then, the commanding officers “followed the customs of their hosts.” No one showed any “malice” against my father; they just expected him to accept degrading treatment.
That’s the Old South, andrew. Its isn’t complicated, actually. In fact, there’s no getting around it. Unless you think that calling a white person racist is worse than being the target of white racism… which apparently you do.
To most people, including myself, the confederate flag is a reminder of the Civil War that was fought to end slavery. To some it is the ugly reminder of slavery itself. But there are those who relegate the slavery issue to being a side issue and certainly not a present day issue. It is VERY unlikely that Zane, for example, wants to bring back slavery. They see the Civil War as the South fighting for their State Rights. Including the right to secede from the the Union, should they want to, for ANY reason. The reason just happened to be slavery, is how they see it. I think it is arrogantly wrong that they see it that way, but some do. The fact that the flag is inside the shape of the State of Texas causes me to think that Zane perhaps sees it that way. DEFIANCE against the Federal Govt. infringing upon Texas.
