My take on that is they’re bringing back proven talent that’s popular with the fans. Their new crop has been mostly hit or miss. The great looking guys like Will and Weston and so on haven’t returned to date. Andy is a great performer but some don’t care for his looks. Other guys like Damon are only marginally good looking.

I don’t blame them at all for bringing back people like Max and Travis and so on. They’re very popular and deservedly so. You go with what sells.

NDS isn’t a bad studio and they were doing more interracial scenes and his scenes were good there. Corbin Fisher hasn’t really delivered a great scene in a longtime and this one isn’t the one to help them.

I think NDS is in fact a bad studio. They cast attractive guys and to their credit, they never to my knowledge make camerawork mistakes. But the scenes are consistently unconvincing, like porn on Showtime or Cinemax. I have always wanted to like them, but the very fact that you open by saying that they aren’t “bad” just says it all. In a world where a dozen gay porn scenes get released every day and less than ten percent of them are at all memorable, just okay is not okay.

First of all, they would post that new update right after I pissed all over NDR. The pictures from that really do look pretty good, but pictures aren’t their problem as I said before. Let me share an anecdote from Family Dick that makes my point. Kristofer Weston, who to me is hotter than the sun, is in the shower. It’s a devastating circumstance and I don’t know when it will be solved. Not every hot guy can work for CockyBoys. Rawstrokes sometimes has low picture quality. Rawfuckclub does too few creampies. Lucas E does NO creampies. And there’s one other company I’m trying to think of, Deviant Man I think is the name. Despite my issues with the companies I just named, I think those are the good ones. Plus Missionary Boyz, plus Family Dick about 20 percent of the time. That ia it, and Dave doesn’t clearly belong at any of those places. I think there are options for guys who don’t mind getting sleazy and aren’t in it for the money. That includes guys who go to GISP, ColbyKnox, etc. But I think established actors who are in it to make a living have almost no choice but to churn out mediocre scenes with the companies I didn’t name.

Sorry to go on at such length but I’ve been playing this game in my head with Vander too. He deserves better after ten years doing the same scenes with Bryan but really, what else is there? I’m racking my brain.

Cockyboys has great videography no doubt, but that as you said in an earlier post doesn’t translate to heat. I can’t think of a recent scene that has me wanting to see more of their movies. The last video I was excited to see from them was Mateo and Clark, the hottest one recently can’t think of, but i recently rewatched Justin and Adam’s video and that was pure heat. Other than some insertion shots, there really was nothing to scream about here. The dicks were hard, but the heavy breathing and moaning made everything feel clinical. Dave had a slow start here. By the end he was really putting in better work. When he left, that continued. At Next Door Elye was playful, he had personality, he was chill and there was a spark in his eyes during his scenes. That spark was dimmed here. I think his return speaks to how we really don’t know what’s going on at these studios. As crappy as Corbin Fisher has been lately, Dave, Rowan, Travis, Barron and Max all came back after long absences. Bryan Ockert would have models return after years away, and Solomon Aspen even got a tat of CM’s logo. When a model who seems to have his head on straight, leaves a studio, works elsewhere and comes back, that has to make you think the model had a good enough experience that he wanted to return. Elye certainly didn’t come back because of CF’s amazing roster, or because he wanted to fuck Pri, or to suck Jason Gibson’s toes. As much as Corbin Fisher gets wrong, it’s apparently not a dealbreaker for some of these guys. That’s pretty telling.

Chi Chi reputedly once said that face, body, and cock are the trinity of porn and you only need two of the three to have a career. But there’s another trinity — the top, the bottom, and the director. (I’m including editing and camerawork in direction.) To make a scene with those three, one of them has to be exceptional, one has to be competent, and the third just has to get out of the way. Sean Cody was a director in the classic sense, so back in 2012, it almost didn’t matter who was in the scene as long as one was competent and one didn’t interfere. Rowan/Sheridan’s scene with Jarek was good IMO for that reason. But I think he always needs to be paired with someone who is going to light up the screen. If we could see him bottom for Manuel Skye at a good studio, you think the result would be dull? I think he’s more than good enough to be a cog in the wheel of many good scenes, but he needs a dominant partner. Unfortunately, I would make the same argument about Dave, so your review came as no surprise.

But my larger point is that I think their retirement would be a loss to the industry because the only thing they don’t have on their own is enough explosiveness to carry a scene alone. And in my “trinity,” they have been alone most of the time.

Agreed, after eliminating Evan’s Solo JO, straight and bi videos there are seven remaining Corbin Fisher videos with Evan. Of those seven, Dave is in five of them with Evan. There was so much hot chemistry between them that I think one or both of them were asking the management (and with some success) that they be paired together and due to their onscreen chemistry, they got their wish. Well… That director could possibly be one of the reasons why he returned. With Cameron gone, he’s now totally in charge of filming. The whole “fun” vibe at NDS seems to be more like their social media game though. I’m glad Corbin Fisher has become more lax with their rules in response to their struggling roster. Dave is the best and his return is certainly very welcome. Well, it depends on what area you’re working in. I mean, thinking has evolved, and I’m sympathetic. If you want to work at a service station or mini-mart, in construction or behind the scenes in music or production, or something technical and where you don’t deal with customers or the public on a recurring basis, than the tattoos are probably ok. But if you are working in retail, or in a service industry, particularly for an employer with some brand or image consciousness, then perhaps you should have given a little thought to your future employment when you started decorating your body. I don’t really see bosses who look askance at too much body art as the problem here.
