Someone (who isn’t a connoisseur) asked me if I thought this was the golden age of porn. I was stunned at the question. I won’t age myself precisely here, but I’ll admit to being a member of Generation X. And in my adult life, the only time that I think might have been less inspiring for porn was probably the early 2000s. I see on Wikipedia that the Cody Media era of Sean Cody started in 2003. My first reference to Chaosmen in my Gmail archive is 2006, and I bring up bareback in that email. So I suppose I ignored them until then. And Corbin Fisher started in 2004. Falcon was very exciting from 1997 to 2000 with guys like Tom Chase, Jeremy Penn, and Mike Branson. So between 2000 and 2005, aside from my interest in Treasure Island Media and the scrappy upcoming bareback industry, things were pretty dull until Dawson (the CF one) fucked Cody bareback and Mitch joined Chaosmen and started fucking raw, both in 2006. 2006 to 2015, things just kept getting more exciting year after year.

I think the sale of Sean Cody to Mindgeek is a pretty good line in the sand for when things began to fall apart for me in the modern era. Greg McKeon, Colby Chambers, and even Tim Tales with their Diego Mattos scenes have often given me reason to hope since then, but I feel like I’m mostly witnessing decline.

You’re right, what you said in the other discussion. Mean comments are a form of emotional terrorism and as a character on West Wing said, “When you give in to terrorists, it gives them a pretty good incentive to keep terrorizing.” The best thing to do is ignore. But I responded partly because I was imagining other people reading it and seeing the hostility going seemingly unanswered. I tried to keep my reply civil because I also thought, “Maybe he just doesn’t perceive his comment as mean.” That’s very unlikely, but I did find it interesting that his response to me was not that hostile, and he actually took the time to explain what he meant. Still no excuse for that kind of malicious language toward the models, and maybe it won’t make a difference, but I respect myself more for trying. I’ll use the block feature if it goes on forever, but for now, I’ve said my piece.

Another reason is the memory of Mike Henson, aka Kenneth Seymour. I had totally forgotten his name was Ken, which is interesting in light of the new Barbie movie. He died very young after a failed attempt to relaunch his porn career, and it was reported that hostile internet reaction hurt him and could have played a role in his drug relapse.

That other person who chimed in the discussion was just bizarre. I have never, EVER berated someone for respectfully disagreeing with me. That is literally the number one reason I come here. You’re Exhibit A! I learn so much from cheerful disagreement. My taste in porn has changed over the years based on things I’ve read here. That couldn’t happen if all I gave weight to was yes men. And speaking of listening, for the moment I’m going to take your advice and just go back to ignoring the meanness. Best to starve it out.

Agreed. BelAmi, for example, takes a lot of trouble developing their models and training them how to perform for the camera.
Personally, I think Alberth Pineda is a great prospect but he needs a good agent or studio to mould him.
