Bryan Ockert is absolutely the last site owner you should hope that about. At one point, his site had a “contact us” link with a long preface explaining why he felt it was a waste of time reading fan feedback because everyone’s opinions contradict and cancel each other out. I think both concepts are good ideas stupidly executed. The glory hole thing works best when it’s real and there is a risk of discovery, as you point out. CM never had a shot at making that work because they will never hire actors as extras (and are too lazy to even get people willing to do it for free). I’m glad they never went the way of MEN or SketchySex by hiring people to overact. If you’re going to create the fantasy of getting caught, everyone involved has to have a certain level of skill and restraint, and really the only time I’ve seen it done effectively was when the risk *was* real.

The second way to make it interesting is to make it really piggy — let them do more with the watersports. Vander was the only person at that studio who seemed to be into that and I must say it’s a lot of work for very little payoff. Not that many people are into watersports, and a whole lot of people are turned off. And even in the most skilled hands, the pissing is over so quickly that you wonder why anyone even bothers unless its in a gangbang.

The third and final way to make a glory hole work is the way that Bryan absolutely should have tried: faceless, truly anonymous sex. I actually like the versatility from the performers, but agree that CM scenes have become a little too staid and predictable. A lot of it comes from CM being a one-man operation. Bryan is set… calcified in his ways. Two fixed cameras and one handheld may have been sufficient in 2005, but there are studios doing amazing things with lighting, bokeh effects, etc. A little more production value would go a long way to elevate some of these scenes.

Going into the finale I knew Ru would pick either Peppermint or Sasha because of their stories. I was almost positive it would be Peppermint. But even if I wasn’t cheerleading for Sasha all season, there’s no way I can deny she turned it out with those finale lipsyncs. Again, Shea disappointed me with that one. How do you not nail the words to “So Emotional?” Even without the rose reveals Sasha would’ve still deserved to win that battle on theatricality alone. With Peppermint she brought the aggressive “Fuck You!” attitude that plays well with that song (I’m still trying to figure out why Ru used two Whitney songs). It felt like Peppermint had used up all her tricks and only had some glitter to pull out of the bag.

I agree, I like Val but she doesn’t bring anything new to the table. I think I like Farrah a little more for doing that. What can I say I’m a messy bitch who likes messy bitches. However, Aja was the highlight.
I love Sasha, she was my fave from the beginning. But, I find a little off putting and pretentious how most of the time she says “I’m brainy, I’m artsy”. It was a weird tone to see them going from being all love and light all season to pulling out the claws and lemon juice. Alexis just needs to stop. Stop it all. She tries way too hard. The Charlie backlash I can sort of understand, because the story did keep changing (I was waiting for Ru to pop off when Charlie said her ribs were hurt because of that challenge). But at the same time, if she gave up, that’s on her. Not really much difference from Charlie standing there miming masturbation and Valentina with the mask. And I don’t know how to feel about Shea or Sasha coming for anyone’s LSFYL when theirs were pretty tame when they had to do their own choreography. Peppermint and Trinity killed their lipsynchs. I don’t know if I could’ve been that hard on Nina. Depression is different for everyone, so I can only imagine how that environment is for someone dealing with those issues. Yes it would’ve been annoying hearing her bemoan her problems, but I would’ve left her alone. And someone brought up a good point that unlike Adore, Nina kept going. I think that says something. Jaymes of all people coming out with that read was hilarious. Valentina got caught feelin’ herself a little too hard. If she’s not careful that will be her downfall. Aja is as insecure as ever. Changing the title changes nothing. If that’s what the fans saw through the edit that was presented, that’s what they voted on. And it’s not like the other girls weren’t coming for Valentina from day one about not having experience and all that other stuff. If she had her bitchface on and was keeping her distance, it’s understandable. Not sure what to make of Farrah. If Valentina is as toxic as you say she is, why would you still try to salvage that friendship? For me that felt more about getting screentime than being genuine.

I agree, Sasha did have some great looks. But all the innovation talk kind of got to me. She’s certainly not the first baldheaded queen on the show (Ongina) and she’s not really the first arsty queen either. I don’t think Milk was either, but her looks were always out there. The only real difference is Sasha had more polish and was more on the fashion side.

Sasha to me has always been over rated. People act like she is so unique, but I just don’t see it. Shea definitely deserved to win, she has been slaying…oh well.

There’s definitely a maturity thing she needs to work on. And humbleness too.

I’m wondering if part of the problem with Shea and Nina was Nina expecting to feel closer to and more supported by Shea because they’re two Black queens who operate within a similar lane (as Peppermint is more pageanty than Shea and Nina). If Nina was already coming into the comp feeling rejected by her own community and she wasn’t fully bonding with the other two Black queens, I can see where the head voices might take over. But I can totally see Shea saying shady shit and then backtracking like she didn’t. So who knows.

Jaymes probably could’ve gone far. But it’s hard to portray that sort of character flawlessly when you’re battling confidence issues. Because then the things you’re saying and doing seem more oddly funny than intentionally funny.

The renaming thing I disagree with for the fact that they’re all gagging about this show not being “Ru Paul’s Best Friend Race” until it came time for Valentina to get that trophy. Then suddenly everyone is acting brand new like “She wasn’t friendly to us in the beginning and she doesn’t deserve that label.” Well which is it? Now if they wanted to change the award because of stuff that happened after the show that’s debatable, because I don’t know if that stuff should factor into how people voted. Like if Alexis had changed her tune after the show, started coming correct and winning fans left and right to the point of winning that title, they would’ve crowed about that not being fair. You can’t have it both ways.

I think they only did the fourway lipsync because Ru needed a reason not to eliminate Peppermint. Taking her out earlier would’ve made sense, but she got better each week. And like I said, she and Shea killed that challenge. And no way was Ru willing to lose Trinity or Sasha. And the finale lipsync was a way for Ru to gauge which way she should go, because we all know it was always between two people. Knowing that, if I had been given the opportunity to pick my opponent, I would’ve had a calculated strategy to ensure I at least made it to the next round.

I thought Ben was well loved on the show. She won a few challenges and was in the top a lot. The other queens bagged on her out of jealousy, but the judges were riding with her for a while.

But wasn’t the gif you used a response to Farrah saying she loved Valentina? That’s why I can’t tell if it was genuine or a stunt. If someone treated me like that I probably would be ready to walk away.

For me, that congeniality title only has to do with how she acted onscreen and not towards the other queens. If this were Big Brother it would be different, because you would have a clear picture of what was going on outside the aired shows as compared to what was aired on tv. With this show we’re not really seeing the unaired stuff, outside of Untucked. If the viewers saw what was presented of Valentina and thought she deserved that title, then she deserved it. Even if she was a megabitch to everyone else after the cameras stopped rolling. And I’m not sure that was even the case, because they said she was cold in the beginning, but warmed up as the comp went on. I think they were really mad about the post show stuff and that’s why they didn’t want her to walk away with that label.

I’m surprised that formula doesn’t include a full or half point for not having to LSFYL. Shea’s Ball win is a sore subject for me because her rainbow look wasn’t the least bit rainbow. Her unicorn was good and her Village People look was okay. I thought Sasha’s three looks were more solid.

I think we all know Peppermint was not even on Ru’s radar at the beginning. It was always going to be Shea, Trinity and Sasha. Some people think Peppermint screwed up early with the plan to get better each week. What I think is Ru knew Sasha and Peppermint had the better drag storylines, so she ended up wanting those two as the final two. But she couldn’t discount Shea and Trinity because of their wins and frequent slayage. So she had the final Lipsync For Your Finale because she knew Peppermint would be safe, Trinity would be safe, and if it came down to Sasha and Shea being the weakest it would make her decision to keep them all less suspicious. That’s why going into that pick Trinity should’ve considered the storylines and made the more obvious choice. I kind of felt bad that she was probably still dealing with that when she showed up for her performance at Z’s award show. And then on top of that she had whatever that malfunction was. But her hot boyfriend was there so I’m sure she got over it. Or under it.

I don’t know, that exchange still reads to me as Farrah trying to get her friend back. If they end up being friendly again it wouldn’t surprise me.

I always thought Cynthia’s win was more about her being kooky and having to leave early. The other queens may have factored in. But like I said earlier I don’t think it’s fair to give more weight to what happens off the show over what happens on. Because again, if Alexis or Charlie had been turning it offstage and winning fans, to have them come back and win that title would be a “WTF?” moment for sure. I do like the idea of the crew having a say if you’re doing Miss Congeniality, because they see it all and would be the most impartial. But you’d kind of have to integrate them more into the show. Which I’m fine with, because I need more Duncan and Sarge in my drag life. Definitely not a good idea to let the other queens vote. Some of these bitches are jealous as fuck and will have no problem not giving a deserving queen a vote because they want to be petty.

I’m gagging at the fact that you thought Shea’s Construction Look was just OKAY. It was the best out of all the village people looks. The 2nd best was Trinity’s Cop Look.

Katya is one of the first queens I thought of whenever Sasha would talk about how her drag was so different and not what people may be used to. Katya presented quite a few abstract looks. And didn’t Sasha do a Russian character in that comedy pilot with Shae?

I mean if it was a Drag on a Dime challenge, then yeah, I’d give it to her. The look was nice, but it was literally different things pieced together. Not just the cape/train/shawl. She threw on two tank tops overlaid with a cut up plaid shirt, short shorts, some boots, socks, gloves, a glittery hard hat with matching lipstick, and the rest of that plaid shirt as a head scarf. Sure, it was cool how she put it all together, but the piecemeal aspect on top of her rainbow look not being rainbow didn’t have me thinking she totally knocked all three components out of the park.

Let’s be real. Katya was more out of the box on Season 7 than Sasha ever was. Katya had that funny Abraham Lincoln Dress/Eaten By Shark Look…what was different and out of the box for Sasha. Frankly everything she did has already been done by other queens. The ONLY time Sasha did anything UNIQUE was when she pulled those gimmicks at the Finale.

Shea grew on me as the season went on and I am a little sad she didn’t win. I’m hoping she can do like other girls that might have not win the crown but that are still relevant and popular.
