The only thing I know about tongue piercings (besides that they are sometimes HOT!) is that there is little if any pain. But you sure talk funny for a few hours.
I prefer some piercings over tats any day. However, like anything, there is excess all around. No tats on me and no piercings ‘cept a closed up one in an earlobe. (Once you turn 30, they should go).
Everyone I know with a tongue piercing all got them removed for the same reason. They cause the gums to recede from the bottom teeth and also wear away the enamel.
