OMG! Is that Sean Costin? GayHoopla has really missed seeing this stud in action. This video is actual special because it was part of the very first weekend Alex Griffen came to shoot with us. Beauxs( where he works at in the Castro) is now very, very white. They used to feature Latino gogos but phased them out about a year ago. Bouncers also recently started telling black patrons that the club was ” at capacity”. Which is not true since their walls are made of glass and you can see that shit from the street. I’m also mixed like Alex and I was quick to snatch that wig up, letting him know that at the end of the day he is a POC and a mixed BLACK man while at it. His coworkers think he’s italian. I laughed my ass off since he’s native Hawaiian and black… that aint italian booboo.
That’s wild. Alex’s melanin ain’t fooling nobody but himself.
We have some of those same club problems here in Atlanta too. Atlanta! Of all places!

Henny, you remember a model named Arquez? He danced here in SF about two-ish years ago. He was all up in the club between dancing sets telling folks he wasn’t black but more like an 8th Black with “spanish and indian mixed in”. The self hate game is too real sometimes.

When the club is “at capacity” they mean they reached their “capacity” of black people in there. I’ve been reading that they do this shit a lot at the hetero clubs as well. Can’t have too many black p̶e̶o̶p̶l̶e̶ men in one place I guess.
As for Alex, I don’t blame her, I blame the mother. Always with these mixed people with no black mother end up disowning or not acknowledging their black side. Common, but not surprised. Usually the ones that do end up self searching in their later years like Mr. Costin or even Obama.
It’s interesting because I’ve also run into Sean Costin a few times through the writing scene. He’s a slam poet that has performed in a few venues (idk if he still does) that I know of and have seen that he does explore his identity as a mixed black man.
I have encountered that many times. I have a few mixed students who were raised by white mothers who, for all intents and purposes, raised their mixed babies to believe they’re white. It’s troubling, and I see it too often.
Would you remind Sean (Zevran) as well? Sometimes I don’t know what’s up with these mixies. A number of them hate the black side of themselves.

My sister laughed at me because I told her that I got kind of suspicious to him because I’ve seen a white person’s hair when it’s cut low to their scalp. It sticks up. Went’s didn’t do that; his lied down on his scalp like mine does.
