I don’t follow the “personal attack” logic at all. You make it sound like we criticize the models for being on insulin or something.

You are absolutely right that many of us don’t like tattoos in general, so that is by definition not personal — it’s not about the person, it’s about the ink. It would be personal if we were commenting on the shape of a person’s ears, their teeth, even their weight, all of which people do here every day. (Frankly, I think that’s fair game too, though I doubt you could easily find any comment of mine that was mean about it.) A tattoo is voluntary skin damage, so everything you said sums up how I feel except for the notion of it being personal.

Tattoos, piercings, and steroids all amount to the same thing in my view, except that steroids are worse because they can do long-term damage that is more than superficial. Simultaneously, I can live with any of those things if they are done with a lot of restraint. Seems to me that most of the people criticizing the tattoo critics just want us to like the thing *they* like, which is fine, but don’t characterize it as something we did wrong. It’s contrary to the very logic of a porn comment board.

I don’t hate tattoos; I hate stupid or (what I considered) misplaced tattoos. An example of a misplaced tattoo for me is when Johnny Forza put a tattoo on his beautiful pec and it’s the most distracting thing ever.

Some look for what can be described as “catch phrases” or “tag lines” with which to be critical of a performer that garners approval. The criticism of tattoos has approval so if Knox returns you will read such criticisms again. Just as Sean can not show up without someone writing about watermelons, or loudness with Daniel, or needles with Dean, ETC. YAWN! Would I kick this handsome young man out of bed because of his tattoos? NO! There are those things in like that are SO HARD to accept, and there are those things that are so easy, like tattoos (for me). Now that I’m not at war with tattoos I often see tattoos as sexy. Tattoos may not be as safe as has been accepted in the past. There have recently been some press articles about subcutaneous lumps of tattoo pigments in the lymph nodes of inked people. This has been attributed to newer pigments that have not been tested for long-term effects under the skin.

There is always some risk associated with placing any foreign material in the body. Large amounts of research must be done to get FDA/etc. approval to medical implants for this reason.

Little is known about new tattoo dyes which have been introduced to expand the fashion statement made with body ink. It appears there may be a medical basis to be as careful with tatts as with any other foreign materials.
