He was Japanese, in his words “hardcore Japanese”. He still had a lot of family back there, they would go back twice a year. I know arranged marriages were in his future if he didn’t hurry up and pick one of these bitches they kept setting him up with. Like “mother country” bride.
I’ve often wondered what wound up happening, I lost track of him over time.

He was actually in an LTR with a really hot black stud, which he said would have REALLY blown their minds. Not because they were racist, but because they looked at it as a sin to co-mingle in THAT way outside their race, let alone with a man. I know that SOUNDS racist, but he described it as more a devout tradition – purity of the blood line thing. Okay, let’s face it – it is a form of racism.

I’d like to think eventually he just spilled, and let the chips fall where they were going to, but to be honest it almost seemed at times in conversation he was going to acquiesce to their demands eventually. Like some part of him had already accepted the inevitable.

Trust, I gave him every pep talk I knew – but I was never convinced he would ever do anything to upset the chain of command. I often also wondered how he would ever tell his lover if and when that day came.

I’m a lucky, thankful man.

I think they mean culturally conservative rather than politically conservative. A lot of Blake people are culturally/socially conservative but you’ll never see them vote for a Republican.
