I think if you’re just basing on rope work and the consistency of the BDSM elements throughout the scenes, Kink gets that right most of the time. But there is a noticeable difference in how they gay side of Kink is run now compared to how it was run when Van’s presence was still there (I actually can’t remember if he left and came back, or still advises but takes more of a BTS position). It’s a difficult thing to judge, because BDSM encompasses so many different elements, and people dom/sub in different ways and with different rules. Some sites use bondage elements out of laziness, as homo-degradation tools or because they think it looks good.

Now, Kink on both the gay and straight sides has plenty of other issues which are already documented. One of those issues is undocumented bisexual/pansexual porn models using the various Kink sites to live out their homo, hetero and trans sex fantasies with less fear of reprisal than they would in a non-Kink scene. But that’s a conversation for another day.

I don’t think they had much choice in the location move. On top of competing with all the free porn on the web, there was also the looming shadow of the proposed condom legislation in California. Considering how much it sold for versus the purchase price, I guess the owner thought it was better to pull of stakes for the more lenient Nevada and pour the profits back into the company. It seems like the probably could’ve still done the move and held onto the property and rented it out. It’s a highly visible and accessible building with tons of rental potential for various long and short-term uses. It’s crazy to think how versatile that building is. One minute the National Guard is using it, then it’s showcasing heavyweight boxing matches, the next Lucas (George, the good Lucas) is using it for some Millennium Falcon interiors, then it’s being used for BDSM porn shoots, and then in between shoots people are giving day tours or its holding craft fairs. That building has more versatility than most gay porn performers.

As for NakedKombat, I never got into that one. Greased up wrestling is hot, but some of those moves looked potentially dangerous. The liability insurance must’ve been killer. I think the problem they kept running into was not having/keeping enough guys with that wrestling background. Like with fake BDSM, you can’t have people just going through the motions. Not only is more room for error when people aren’t properly trained, but the project looks shitty.
