1. I can’t (and won’t) turn everyone’s refusal or reticence to be comfortable with who they really are into an “internalized homophobia” case. Because I don’t care how gender relaxed and sexually open-minded your childhood and adolescence were, very few of us achieved self-actualization without going through a period where we were dishonest with ourselves and the people in our lives. So I can’t sit here and judge models for not having arrived at a point where they feel they can stand in their truth, whatever that is. Because most (if not all) of us have been there. Some are still there. And for some of these models, this is the only way they feel they can express their same sex attractions. They’d rather do it online, knowing people in their lives will stumble upon it, because they feel the money provides a cover story. It’s much easier to pretend you’re not gay or bi when you’re getting paid to have sex, versus your friend or parent finding you fucking around with a guy on your home time. It’s typical DL behavior just more in the open and with a different rationalization. Yeah, I’ll throw shade and side-eye to those guys because they can’t or won’t admit what is so blatantly obvious, but I’m not going to run them out on a rail because they’re scared, or insecure or just incapable of admitting their truth. So long as they’re not slamming gays in the process, it’s whatever. We would never accuse a closeted person in the real world of not coming out because they’re dealing with internalized homophobia. Nobody said that about Colton Haynes and countless others before they came out. Why? Because we were respectful (for the most part) of their journey. We don’t afford that same courtesy to porn models, because we feel they owe us. They’re already sharing their most intimate selves with us, but we demand more. We have to know if they identify with us, and it has to be the identification we agree with. Otherwise, fuck ’em.

2. I’ve long held and discussed the belief that bisexuals (namely bisexual men) are not welcomed in this community because of jealousy exhibited by gay men. There are quite a few gay men who resent the fact that bi men are able to (if they choose) live a “straight” lifestyle, and reap all of the benefits that come along with it. But being a gay man, you don’t have that luxury and are therefore stuck dealing with however your given society handles people who are classified as an “other.” A bi man can get married to a woman, have kids and have all of that be celebrated by society with ease. But when a gay man does that, there is pushback at every turn. That’s where the resentment comes from. It’s “passing” from a sexuality perspective rather than an ethnic one. The people who can “pass” are seen as enemies because they are seen to have more advantages than the people who can’t pass. It’s the “Crabs in a barrel” syndrome. If I can’t escape, why should you? And I also say this mentality is why the gay side of the community also targets trans men and women, because of the same passing issues. A man can transition into being a woman and have relationships with men and if she can pass, nobody bats an eye. So again, you have someone living a life and doing the things you want to live and do, but they’re being accepted and you aren’t. That’s why you get so much bile and animosity whenever porn featuring trans women shows up here, or when performers do trans porn.

As for the Collin side of the comment, people like that are easily dismissed, because all of that is for show. Babies and social media are the new beards. Liking female pornstars on social media, showing vacation photos with your girlfriend means nothing. It’s a smokescreen. Looking to social media for a depiction of reality is a problem. It’s all designed to present a false, filtered image of how someone really lives their life. And furthermore, Collin is an idiot. About many things. People like that deserve no empathy, nor is anyone calling for that empathy. But I’m not going to lump everyone who presents a het lifestyle online into that Collin category. It so much easier and healthier to judge people against their own actions, rather than the actions made by someone in a similar situation. It’s what we want for ourselves, so why not extend that to others? And when we find those idiots and douchebags like Collin who aren’t worth the time, leave them be.
