1. The speech seen on camera doesn’t match the level of writing. I write and analyze writing as a living. Not the same person, as any colloquialism and verbal idiosyncrasies are not present. He doesn’t study theory or have a background in academics so typically, the way someone speaks is the way they write. I have seniors that put “ums” and “likes” in their college level essays.

I find the level of writing for many of these sites to be atrocious. They’re are wrought with deception and half truths. And many are written by professional writers/ marketers, purposely deceiving their gay followers. Yes, it’s effective at times and they rely on their fans not heeding the words of anyone that is able to deconstruct said deception. Unless Boxhead got a technical writing degree between November when he was working at Krogers and calling us fags and now, I’m not gonna believe the writing.

As for the level of writing. For undergraduates, I find transfer students to be more reliable on how to properly format an easy. Community colleges tend to vett those students by the way their systems are structed, at least here in California. I find that many of my wealthy students/ frat boys are complete failures and me giving them a c does little to nothing in their life trajectory. I have a student who is enrolled for the 3rd time in my writing 101 class shooting for a c, and has a paid internship at google in Menlo Park. He gets paid close to $25,000 for 15 hours a week as an intern. These are the people that inherit political positions and business leadership roles.

It’s always the CLEVER and not necessarily the most intellect individuals that can get ahead without the use of parental wealth and/or influence. I learned quickly in my undergrad that the world wouldn’t reward me for my hard work even if I was the top performing student. Connections and networking is everything these days.

My first year as an assistant professor was jarring. I was told I couldn’t give anything less than A to a grad student. Our institution just didn’t work that way unless he student royaly fucked up. Because of that dynamic, I didn’t get any graduate students attempt to purchase marks or scores.

Undergrads on the other hands have attempted to by my favor, some wig money, others sexually. I always say no and depending on the student, I may report it.

Last year was the first year they let me sit on thesis committees and one of my students forged my signature on his thesis, because he was too lazy to pay someone to proofread. That’s as crazy as it’s gotten, but I did have a fist fight in class two weeks ago and I’m still dealing with that.
