I think the definition of monogamy is pretty broad in “our” community, though. Now my husband and I are monogamous in a fairly traditional sense, and we’re working on 5 years. And we know two couples who are like 15 and over 20 years who are completely monogamous (we know them well enough to believe that without reservation). I think it depends on the couple, depends on their relationship and circumstances, depends on the definition and to some much smaller degree I think it depends on innate nature. I agree that for men, the desire for and significance of monogamy is not as prevalent a norm as it is for women, but I don’t think it’s counter-nature either.

I’m not saying it isn’t possible – but really now that I think about it EVERY couple I know that has been together more than three years is inviting 3rd and 4rth parties into the sack. They rationalize it by saying “Well we ONLY do this together” but honey I have it on real good authority THAT is in most cases a load of shit. I applaud people like you, I often envy couples.. until some damn shiny new show pony enters my view LOL!
