There is also long-standing talk that he has/did get into race play scenarios with clients. But then he goes an writes an article about Hugh Hunter being a hypocrite for pretending to be about the cause. Diesel didn’t just spend years taking the roles he was given, he was given creative control over some of those roles. He created those characters using his own input. He willingly perpetuated mandingo imagery. He went to casting directors about models he wanted to work with. White models. So whatever experiences and mistreatments he’s talking about now, a good deal of them he invited. If you allow yourself to be treated like a fetish object, you don’t get to complain when that’s exactly what happened. I won’t even get into Rush because his issues go waaay back. I do understand what you’re saying and I’m not about victim shaming. But at some point all of these models went from victims to perpetrators. When they can acknowledge that, perhaps I’ll feel differently about them.

People, regardless of their skin color are always going to hate. It’s just who we are. Sometimes people can be educated, sometimes they can be enlightened, and sometimes they just be scared the fuck off. And sometimes nothing changes. But even if they don’t change their position, that doesn’t mean I have to accept it. People can only treat you in a manner which you allow. And I don’t make it a habit of allowing people to treat me like garbage or like I’m less than. Even if my response to your mistreatment doesn’t change the way you think, it’s still going to let you know that I know who I am, I know my self-worth, and you are not able to control or distort either of those two things. So whatever mess you’re trying to bring, you best take it over there to the next gullible, weak, or impressionable person. Because I’m not the one.
